It’s not really the “three-year high school” that’s an issue; before the advent of middle school, lots of high schools were three-year schools. The question is whether having one year less overall will make a difference.
There seems to be an awful lot that students don’t know when they graduate from high school. And I’m not just talking about the devaluation of facts, which I see as an issue, but about communication and critical thinking skills as well. Will one fewer year make this process more effective? Is there nothing to lose by eliminating 12th grade? And if there isn’t, what does that say about the other 11?
There are a lot of problems in education. I don’t see how this addresses them.
I agree 100% I think there are a bevy of problems and this one doesn’t solve any of them.
